Towards the Abstract

The Tin Shed Art Group is a group of 12 artists that meet weekly to paint and work towards an annual exhibition.  I have exhibited with TSAG since 2008.

Tricia Wheatstone’s set was inspired by the National Museum of Australia (NMA). Viewed from across the waters of Lake Burley Griffen on winter mornings this whimsical piece of architecture provides arrestingly bright relief from the solidly brutal construction and conservative grey facades typical of Canberra’s other public buildings. There is a parallel between the theme of this exhibition and the NMA building, which has transcended the traditional image of museums as dark and dusty edifices for the preservation of the past.
